Filter is an alternative rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. They were formed in 1993 by the lead singer Richard Patrick, whom also plays the guitar.

In my opinion they are a great mellow down to earth band that are very similiar to Breaking Benjamin and Jimmy Eat World. The band was formed quite a while ago so they've had time to mature and grow as a group, obivously some members have left since then  but the current members are a really good mix of age and personality.

Miss May I

Miss May I are a metalcore band from Troy, Ohio. They started out in 2006 and have only made 2 full length studio albums to date. Those albums are called "Apologies Are for the Week" and "Monument".

Miss May I as a band started when they were all 16 in 2006 making them a very young and upcoming band soon to be massive. Before they released there 2 studio albums in 2009 and 2010 they released an EP consisting of 5 tracks back in 2006 called "Vows for a Massacre".


Apologies Are for the Week - 2009

This was their first full length album which held the well known tracks "Tides" and "Forgive and Forget". A short time after self releasing this album the band got signed to Rise Records. This was the last release with the bassist Josh Gillespie, they later returned to their original bassist and back up vocalist Ryan Neff.
I like the songs "Porcelain Wings" and "Forgive and Forget" off this album, they are very similiar to The Devil Wears Prada in the aspect of the heavy metalcore feel but with very melodic clean vocals.


Monument - 2010

This was there second full length studio album to date, holding the well known tracks "Relentless Chaos" and "Our Kings". The bass and clean vocals are performed by Ryan Neff on this album. They recorded a video of the song "Relentless Chaos" in Mansfield Prison and sooner released the video on youtube just before the album was released. My two favourite tracks on this album are "Relentless Chaos" and "Gears", "In Recognition" was also a very good track, this track was a more melodic metal ballad just like The Devil Wears Prada's "Louder Than Thunder".

I've only recently started listning to Miss May I, but i've noticed that most of their songs and their style resemble that of The Devil Wears Prada's. Even in some of Miss May I's songs the riff patterns are the same, almost identical.

I have not yet seen Miss May I live due to i've only recently started listning to them, but i would love to go and watch them live if they ever tour in the UK. Their songs are so brutal yet melodic. A statement that i've always said and has proved to be very very true is; "To like a band, you MUST like their vocalist", yet again i've proved my own statement true, I love their vocalist Levi Benton thus i love the band Miss May I too...

As I Lay Dying

As I Lay Dying are a metalcore band from San Diego, California. The band was created back in 2000 by lead singer Tim Lambesis and drummer Jordan Mancino. The band members are all christian making the band a christian band, they have 4 albums to date.

My favourite album to date has got to be An ocean lay between us, with it being the most melodic of all the albums. It also contains my favourite song by As I Lay Dying, Forsaken.
An Ocean Lay Between Us was recorded while AILD were under the label of Metal Blade.

The Lead Guitarist from Nick Hipa from Finland had this to say about the album,

"Collectively we've all pushed ourselves, and we're all doing things that we weren't even capable of doing on the last record. And on top of just experimenting and trying different things, I think we just wrote some pretty sick jams, so I'm happy with it. That's all I can say. For kids who like our band and think they know what to expect from us, it might throw them off a little bit . . . I encourage anybody who likes our band to approach this album with an open mind."

The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada are a Metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio in America. They formed in 2005 with most of the members being school/college mates.

The band consists of 5 members whom are all Christians making The Devil Wears Prada a christian band, these members are

• Jeremy DePoyster (Rythm Guitar, Backing Vocals)
• Chris Rubey (Lead Guitar)
• Daniel Williams (Drums)
• Andy Trick (Bass)

There label currently is Warner Music Group. In the past they have been with Ferret and Rise music labels. They have released 3 studio albums to date and 1 EP.




Formation And Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord (2005-2007)

This was there first full length album which held the well known singles "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over" and "Swords,Dragons and Diet Coke". There first album was real brutal compared to other albums, they defined the meaning of metalcore with the blend of death growl vocals and heavy guitars to melodic keys and melodic harmonies.


Plagues (2007)

This was there second full length studio album which held the well known singles "HTML Rules Dood" and "Hey john whats your name again?". This album was gradually getting more melodic, this album really shows the transformation they made from Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord to With Roots Above and Branches Below.

With Roots Above and Branches Below (2008)

This album is the most recent studio album recorded by TDWP, this is the most melodic of the 3 albums. This album consisted of the well known singles "Assistant To The Regional Manager" and "Danger: Wildman". There most famous single of this album was "Dez Moines" because they handed the rights to use this song on Guitar Hero 5 in a Downloadable Content Pack.



To date none of the original members have left the band and all the fans wish to keep it that way.
